Mount Nyiragongo is an active stratovolcano with an elevation of 3,470 m in the Virunga Mountains associated with the Albertine Rift. It is located inside Virunga National Park, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, about 20 km north of the town of Goma and Lake Kivu and just west of the border with Rwanda.
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali , Boat cruise & transfer to Goma
After breakfast at your hotel, our driver guide will pick up and transfer you to Gisenyi on lake Kivu for a boat cruise on the lake. You will have lunch in Gisenyi town and then proceed to Goma. Dinner and overnight at Mikeno lodge/Bukavu Tented Camp.
Day 2: Nyiragongo hike
This is a day for hiking to the summit of Mt Nyiragongo an active volcano in the heart of Virunga national park. You will have a morning breakfast and go for a briefing at the hiking starting point. Hiking starts at 10:00 am taking you roughly 6 hours to reach the summit of the volcano. Dinner and overnight at the tented camp.
