International visitors ( Foreign non residents)
The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) charges USD $ 700 per person per single trek. This is price for the gorilla trekking permit. But you take care of your own transportation, meals and all accommodation while on your gorilla tour.
Foreign Residents
These are known as nationals that are having working permits or on a contract stay in East Africa but they are not residents of East Africa. UWA charges the gorilla permit for foreign residents USD $600 per person per single trek.
East African Residents
This category applies to all Ugandans, Kenyans, Rwandese, Congolese and Burundi. UWA charges gorilla permit for all East African residents UGX 250,000/= per person per single trek.
Note;
The gorilla trekking permits can only be acquired from the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarter offices in Kampala. And with out this gorilla permit you are not allowed to access the gorilla parks. Therefore you need to use a local operator to assist you with booking your gorilla permit. You also need to acknowledge that its easy for a registered local tour operator to access the UWA offices and book your permit. But its challenging and at times difficulty for you to purchase your permit online from UWA reservation team. This is because the UWA reservations team tends to be busy, thus they take long to respond to emails or phone calls.

Transportation cost
You need to hire 4X4 Safari Vehicle for your gorilla tour Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park or Mgahinga National Park. You are required to hire a 4×4 vehicle with the ability to manage all road terrain including remote areas of Bwindi forest and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Small vehicles like a Rav4 can be suitable for your gorilla safari in Uganda in case you looking forward to enjoy a budget gorilla tour. The Toyota Rav4 can be hired at low rate ranging from $45 to$65 per day, a medium 4×4 like a safari van or safari land cruise at $80 to$100 per day, Jeeps and extended safari land cruisers are between $200 to $300 per day. The rates offered above include a car, driver but less fuel.
The accommodation cost for the gorilla trekking in Uganda
It is important to note that Bwindi forest park is divided into four sectors namely; Rushaga, Buhoma, Ruhiji and Nkuringo sector. Each of these sectors features its own accommodation and the lodges/ camps range from budget, Mid-Range and luxury accommodation. The budget lodges ranges from USD $100-150, Mid- range USD $ 170 – 250 and luxury USD 300 – 400 per person sharing.
However Porters can be hired at a fee in case you are planning to travel with a lot of cargo bags. Porters do charge a fee ranging from $10 to $20 but guides are included in the gorilla permit.
