SELF DRIVE CAR HIRE TERMS & CONDITIONS BY 4×4 CAR HIRE KAMPALA
Planning to rent a car in Uganda with us for self drive trip, the following terms and conditions are very crucial to avoid any misunderstanding between the hirer and company.
Who can rent a car?
A hirer must be between 20 to 70 years old to be allowed to drive a rental car in Uganda. A valid driver’s license is required for Uganda citizens while an International Driver’s License is a must for foreigners. You must also possess at least 2 years of driving experience. Other identification means like passport, nationality ID or company card can be useful when booking a rental.
Car Pick-up & Drop-off locations
4×4 car hire Kampala delivers rental cars to any destination within Uganda including cities, suburbs and remote regions. We offer free delivery of rental cars to Entebbe airport plus Entebbe & Kampala hotels or residences. The hirer can return the car to our offices in Kampala or have it picked up from their hotels or at the airport.
Additional drivers
You must first get authorization from the company to be an additional driver and also be included in the self-drive car rental agreement. The additional driver must also meet the requirements of the original renter or driver and in case an unauthorized person is found driving the car, all protections and insurance in the agreement become void.
Insurance cover & terms
We offer all our rental cars in Uganda based on comprehensive insurance with losses or damage to tires, glasses, windscreens and body are not covered by insurance. Our insurance policy covers damages above US$ 50 plus Head-on collision, theft and personal life insurance for passengers. Any damages below US$ 50 should be worked out between the hirer and tour operator. The insurance policy doesn’t cover damages caused by driver’s negligence eg driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol or punctures.
In case of an accident or damage
You have to immediately notify the nearest police station if it’s person’s guilt or passenger injured. You are also entitled to get a police report and make a statement because the insurance provider will base on that document to compesate for any damages. Excess insurance charged by the operate will vary depending on the type of car and in cases of single-vehicle roller over, US$ 1500 will be charged and that’s why we strongly advice you not to over speed or overtake.
Cross-border use
All our rental cars are insured for use only within Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania & Burundi. The hirer must not attempt to take the car across borders without consent and authorization from the company and must pay a COMESA insurance to cover any damage that may be caused in the foreign country. We also offer overseas breakdown insurance at an additional cost upon request.
Car rental price includes & excludes
The self drive car rental quotation includes comprehensive insurance, 24-hour road assistance, unlimited mileage covering government taxes. The rental price excludes fuel or gas with clients offered full-tank before driving off and return the same amount on drop-off.
Theft protection
The hirer is responsible for the security of the rental car and must lock it when not with it. The hirer must not carry passengers for cash or reward and is not allowed to drive at night beyond 7 pm as most robbers love to operate in the night hours.
Road-side assistance
Though our rental cars are well maintained and services, sometimes things may go wrong like breakdown or car failure. We offer 24-hour support service where you can just make a call and our team will respond promptly. Please do not attempt to repair the vehicle unless authorized by the company.
In case of accidents
In case of an accident, the renter is required to obtain data from the other involved including Number plate, license name, insurance company, telephone numbers among others and then quickly call the company. The hirer should not leave the accident scene until the police or our representative appear.
Rental car repossession
The company will repossess the vehicle at any time if the car is left abandoned, agreed return date & time has elapsed, hirer fails to pay for rental, vehicle is driven recklessly or used for other purposes not allowed in the agreement, rental car is driven by unauthorized person, the agreement is breached, renter is involved in an accident.
Refunds
4×4 Car Hire Kampala only offers refunds under the following conditions
- You will get a 50% refund when you cancel your reservation one month before the rental date.
- Free cancellation policy when carrying your deposit or payment to a future date.
- No refunds in case you cut your self drive road trip short but can get a refund upon prior notice.
Deposit
Upon confirming the rental car you prefer, you are required to make a 30% deposit of the total amount through Visa, Master card or Pesapal. The balance is to be paid upon arrival before driving off.
