Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1- Pick up and transfer to Lake Mburo National ParkOn arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will transfer you to Lake Mburo National Park. You will reach the national park in the afternoon, check-in, refresh and have lunch at the lodge. In the evening, you may go for a boat cruise at Lake Mburo and then return to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Lodge/Rwakobo Rock lodge/Mpogo Safari Lodge.
Day 2-Game Drives- Transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park
You will wake up very early at 6:00 am and go for game drives for wildlife viewing. Game drives will give you a clear view of wildlife grazing and browsing in the open Savannah. Among the animals, you should expect to see include impalas, zebras, and buffalos among others alongside various bird species. You will then return to the lodge for late breakfast and rest waiting for hot lunch before checking out. After lunch, you will transfer to Bwindi’s impenetrable forest national park via the rolling hills of kigezi. Dinner and overnight stay at Mahogany Springs Lodge/Gorilla Forest Camp.
Day 3: Gorilla tracking and Batwa Community Walk
As early as noon, you will have breakfast and with a packed lunch transfer to the national park headquarters for the briefing from the park rangers.at 8:30 am, you will transfer to the trekking trail starting point and then hike into the forest in search of the allocated mountain gorilla. The time to spend in the forest will depend on where the mountain gorilla family slept the previous night and the speed of their movements. Though challenging and associated with panting and sweating, looking into the eyes of the mountain gorillas face to face is the best wildlife encounter every trekker lives to remember. You will have great chances of encountering other animals such as monkeys and elephants. On reaching the mountain gorillas, you will spend an hour taking photographs and observing their human-like behaviors and then return back to the lodge for refreshing. In the evening, visit the Batwa pygmies communities and interact with these traditional dwellers. Mahogany Springs Lodge/Gorilla Forest Camp.
Day 4: Transfer to Kigali for departure
You will have an early morning breakfast and then transfer to Kigali Via Kisoro Chanika border. It will take you approximately 3 hours drive to reach Kigali city, tour some tourism sites(Kigali genocide memorial center and the Kigali convention center) and then connect to the airport for a return flight.
